Which is the most fundy state?
I was just wondering, in your opinion, which US state has the most fundies in it?

Sheer numbers, probably California. Percentage wise, probably Utah. SLD |

Maybe I should explain more...
I've decided to create a parody, I've chosen a name for my pastor (Lucilius Witz - I'm hoping that may give a bit of a clue that its a joke), now I need to find somewhere to have him live. So I want to put him in the most fundy state I can find - at the moment I've said Tenessee, but as I'm not American, I don't really know which state could be the worst Thanks for your help, --Egoinos-- |

The most fundy state?
It is either denial or delusion. |

It depends. If you consider most Mormons fundies, then Utah wins percentage hands down. They have all those screwy blue laws, too.
For xian fundies, the Deep South is pretty safe. Alabama and Mississippi are as deep as you can get. But Missouri (home of Ashcroft), Shrubya's Texas, and Tennessee are pretty bad as well. And don't forget Kansas, home of Fred Phelps and state-mandated creationism. Andy |

Don't forget that Ashcrap lost to a dead man for the MO US Senate seat as well. While my only experience with rural parts of my home states (mostly MO but I consider KS my "real" home) is just driving through them, I will say they seem pretty conservative. But I'd say that 'Bammer or Mississippi, from what I've read, are worse. So much worse, in fact, that I have made a promise to myself never to set foot in either state as long as I can help it (I've already been to Texas, or it would be on The List (c) as well). Ohh, and BTW, Mormons are christians. Albeit different from others, but Christians nonetheless. Of course, I am not sure what kind of story you are trying to write, perhaps Mormon views won't fit. In that case, Mississippi is probably the most fundamentalist - although South Carolina can lean pretty strongly that way too. Alabama is probably in the top five or ten as well. SLD |

If you were going to stick with the south, Mississippi is probably the most accurate. However, if you like the idea of Tennessee, the east Tennessee (and Kentucky for that matter) counties in the Appalacian mountains are about as backwards a place as you'll find in the USA.
Think of it as a branch office for West Virginia. Bookman |
