Post Intelligent Design or Darwinean Evolution?

RECENT COMMENT (by advocate of Intelligent Design Theory): "Strict evolutionary theory explicitly denies any outside influence on the process--it is thoroughly self-contained, which, of course, runs entirely counter to the Christian conviction that a Creator was involved."

RESPONSE: Disagree. "Strict evolutionary theory" is simply (accredited) science. Evolution can (and does) proceed by the natural laws under which God created the universe: it is not necessary for Him to intervene (and play tinker toy). God is present and working in our lives and the universe, but not as Intelligent Design Theory envisions. Please see GOD, ORDER AND EVOLUTION at

Cool

Sure, why not. You might want to spell "Darwinian" correctly in your thread title, though.

Evolution does not in any way deny the existence of supernatural influences. It simply doesn't mention any supernatural influence because, as a scientific theory, it can only address evidence.

I.D. really is not a theory at all. It doesn't make any claims about how things got the way they are. It just says some intelligent designer might be involved. Well, 8-horned space aliens might be involved too. Evolution makes no claims about eithe one, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Oh wait. That's right. The big deal is people want to teach religion to other people's kids. I forgot about that.

As far as I can tell, "intelligent design" can be summed up in one sentence: "We can't figure out how it might have evolved, so it must not have."

Yes, so long as you define 'we' as 'those of us who remain willfully ignorant of science.'

Why the parenthetical? It's not important - just curious.

Well, I saw the 'faith' part, e.g.:

Quote:
The evidence clearly shows Jesus to be exactly who He claimed to be: the only Son of God and as such God incarnate. God is infinite and good.
... which 'clearly shows' a concept of evidence wholly devoid of 'reason'.
