Thanks for the clarification. Luckily, the intended audience is so ignorant, he would never notice. But we could certainly use that for future reference.

By the way, email coming.

Starspun,

Sounds like your boss is stuck in a truth trap. Logic and reason are of no use. The only way I know of that has a chance of affecting him in any way is to setup a belief-disconfirmation situation and do it when he doesn't have the support of other fundies to "keep him strong in his faith".

LOL

Starboy- he isn't the boss. He is a co-worker of my better half. You are right about the truth trap though. He can't, or won't see the fallacies of his own arguments. I am also curious about a belief-disconformation situation. What exactly is that?
I will also add that judging by his reaction to only one point that was made in the letter, he was, as my wife put it, like a rabid dog backed into a corner.
I think at this point we are ready to drop it and move on. The lies he attempted to argue with were thoroughly countered and it feels good to put this numbskull on his heels. With someone like him, it's all you an ask for, other than a good ole fight. But that isnt an option, really. My wife has to work with him, and he's not a 'bad' guy...just a complete jackass that lives in his safe and secure box o' religion. Although, I can't see him just dropping the issue. I'm sure he will pull something out of his ass to try and counter the specifics. Perhaps he will pray for guidance.

edit: I found your thread about the truth trap, oka, cognitive dissonance. could you go into more specifics on belief-disconformation scenario?
