Post For Non-Christians (and Christians)

I was curious about what you believe is the biggest reason to disfavor a Christian in any circumstance. Rephrased; what is the biggest thing against a Christian besides their specific belief in Christ?

For me, it is their arrogance, lack of grace, staleness, and the fact that most in the US don't stand up for their beliefs (they don't live what they believe)

(Coming from a Christian)

Their puritanical desire to force other to live life according to their norms.

Knowing somebody's religion, like knowing someone's race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or political affiliation, tells me very little about any given individual. With that in mind, there is no reason to "disfavor a christian in any circumstances." I'm not even sure I understand what you're asking.

For Godless,

I was curious about why some people dislike, distrust, hate,... Christians. Usually this is based on a prior or present experience. For me, being a Christian, I still do not like Christians in general (see previous post). It doesn't mean I would stop loving them or caring for their needs, it just means I don't like them or what they do. The same would go for any other human being. There is no person I hate, there are people I don't like and disagree with. But if they were in need of something, I would try to help them is possible...........I've typed enough

I don't understand the question, either. Could you rephrase it?

MadMordigan- Thanks for the response. That is one reason why there are so many factions with the Christian Religion. Each has their own moral and religious foundation.

Have you had a bad experience with a Christian? What made that experience bad?

Well, some of them lack good habits of intellectual hygiene. Consequently, they don't smell very good.

I don't have anything against xians in general. In fact I've met quite a few xians that I like. The ones I have a problem with are the ones that try to shove their xianity down my throat or look down their noses because of their religion. They are the hypocrites that make their flavor of belief look bad.

And don't even get me started on a couple of the Muslims I know.

While there is little-to-nothing about christian theology that I admire, most of the people I know are christians of one denomination or the other. All are fairly liberal regarding their religion, which means they basically have religions of their own design based on wishful preference (I can't fault them for having a rich fantasy life, I have one, too). It makes them feel good and from conversations we've had, the truth of their theistic beliefs matters less to them than worrying if they have medical insurance or can afford to go on vacation--the basic things most of us worry about or look forward to. In other words, I found that people tend to deal with each other as individuals--not as a member of a group.

Unlike you, there are people I've met I do hate; I don't bother with those people. I also hate when religion is used as a political device to promote fear. Public discourse on religion I find very frustrating due to the arrogant attitude that faith is preferable to non-faith.
