Post More opinions over IGWT motto

<a href="http://www.bakersfield.com/opinion/story/842495p-928141c.html" target="_blank">More letters to the editor over the motto.</a>

Sigh. The issue is weeks old, but it seems emotions still run deep.

And I'm sick of reading such comments as "Our founders were Christians" and "we need the 10 commandments posted as well." I simply cannot read these things anymore!

From one of the letters:

All religions that I have heard about in my life and travels all have a God or Supreme Being that they believe in and trust.
Apparently this person has never heard of Buddhism or Shintoism.

And another letter:

Our legal system is based upon the "Judeo-Christian" ethic, that is the 10 Commandments. The legal system may call lying and stealing fraudulent misrepresentation, but it is still lying and stealing -- two of the 10 Commandments prohibiting such.

Holding people to the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" is done by indictment for murder or manslaughter.

What kind of legal system/criminal justice system would we have if we didn't follow the 10 Commandments?
Oh I'm sure that the ten commandments is the first and ONLY place throughout history that has ever had such laws. *Gag*

They never ever mention the first commandment when making arguments like this -- selective memory of the few that are constituutional.
