I Wish there was GOD
:boohoo:
I sincerely wish there was GOD. How nice it would be to have somebody like a school master watching over everybody's actions, keeping track of good and bad actions and punishing and rewarding accordingly. Unfortunately this is not to be and we have ourselves to take care of each other. Don't you all agree?? Don't u all wish that GOD was real??? |

Not me
You actually want God to be real? Well I certainly hope he’s nothing more than a sick fairy tale. Consider the following problems with an all powerful God: 1. All your most private thoughts, dreams, and ideas will be known to God In complete detail. You will always be under observation where ever you go. Even Orwell’s Big Brother didn’t have that kind of absolute power over people! 2. You could be forced to spend ETERNITY in either heaven or hell, regardless of whether or not you wanted to be there. 3. You will be expected to live your life according God’s will, not your own. Trust me, this God stuff isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. |

It would certainly be nice to believe in reincarnation though, don't you think?

"1. All your most private thoughts, dreams, and ideas will be known to God In complete detail. You will always be under observation where ever you go. Even Orwell’s Big Brother didn’t have that kind of absolute power over people!"
Well you always know these things yes? "2. You could be forced to spend ETERNITY in either heaven or hell, regardless of whether or not you wanted to be there." I could also be given a choice to whatever.... "3. You will be expected to live your life according God’s will, not your own." well, you see, I see no difference between me and God. So yes, God knows my every thought. My will is God's will and vice versa. The only doer is God, and I am it! I am comfortably living in the illusion that God and I are separate. If you accept that only God IS, then you are it. The word "god" is a symbol! DD - I Am Spliffed |

"I don't quite understand why believing in reincarnation brings you anything. I mean, I see why some people choose to believe in God and look forward to an eternal chillout session up in the clouds. But the thought often being born again, just after you died, only to go through all of it again, with no memory of your past life. What's the joke about that? You could just as well assume that death is once and for all."
Maybe, it's like this: If you eat a strawberry cake everyday, and only strawberry cakes, you will most likely get bored eventually. You start craving for some frenchfries. Heaven = Strawberry cake Hell = French Fries Earth = strawberry cakes AND french fries Earth is where heaven and hell meets, and we are here to choose what we want. Reincarnation happens, IMO, because you will get bored with being ALL one. It is more fun, not knowing having a chance of discovering life again, with ALL that it entails. DD - Free Spliff |

Well if heaven is the one perfect place where everybody will be happy for all eternity, then surely there must be both strawberry cake and french fries. Let's say reincarnation means that you always eat the same things again and again, forgetting the taste every time you do it. Wouldn't it be just enough to taste it only once then? That wouldn't change the quality of the experience. So if I had to believe something, I'd prefer the limitless culinary experiences offered by some heaven-like place.

See, I have offered the xplantion in other threads, that earth IS heaven/garden of eden. We CAN choose between SC and FF, this would constitute your definition of heaven. Both are here. Reincarnation now becomes the opposite: We try to re-enter heaven!
