Thumbs down

O'Reilly is clearly a knob, but truth be told I couldn't care less about anything he has to say. His brand of frothing-at-the-mouth jingoist douchebaggery is as old as nation-states and wholly ordinary in all respects. What really disturbs me is the fact that there's such a large market for such lunacy here in the U.S.

He had some PHD on, and he let the guy speak for about 30 seconds before cutting in on him. The PHD kept talking while O'Reilly was attempting to interject and stifle him. The Professor (and Marianne) wouldn't stop, so O'Reilly had his microphone muted. The guy was talking, but you could not hear a word he said. He just kept going, though. Finally, O'Reilly warned him that if he didn't behave himself he was going to discontinue the discussion.

O'Reilly is out of control. The whole scene was quite comical. Why would anyone watch this joker and take him seriously? Why would anyone subject themselves to his chastisement as a guest on his program? Needless to say, I flipped the channel after his little tirade. What buffoonary!!
Why would anyone listen to Jim Jones or David Koresh? Because they tell people what they want to hear and know how to exploit this for their own profit.

I watched the same thing. The poor PHD. Appeared to be a young guy trying to break through. (Breaking through against a prick like O'Reilly would be a trick.) I've utterly no idea whatever why anyone would subject themselves to humiliation.

O'Reilly explains the rules: (paraphrase) "You talked and I listened. Now I talk and you listen." The rest of the show consisted of O'Reilly constantly and continually interjecting and cutting his guests off. Look up rude, and you'll see his photo.

How anyone can stand to watch such a charade day after day is beyond me.

Was this the guy whose father had been killed in the 9/11 attack, and who was saying the war with Iraq was unjustified? O'Reilly was trying to dictate to him what his father's opinion would have been. It was pretty appalling.

No. (Although I read about that as well.) This happened to be the 'episode' from last night.

The man is truly daffy. He heaped scorn upon his guest, then proceeded to engage in the same behavior.

Tough to make your point when your point is repeatedly cut off.

I am going out right now to buy some Canada Dry ginger ale and some Canadian bacon. Which I will eat while watching Kids in the Hall.

This remind me of the song "Blame Canada" from the South Park movie.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, but i doubt the back bacon you get is really from Canada. Buy some Moslon Canadian beer instead!

I agree that if you need a good chuckle O'reilly is your man, but it is ratings he is getting, from those who hate him and those who *cringe* agree with him.
I used to watch him to know what the other side of the argument was, but as of recently he is out of control and shouldn't be a news source for impressionable minds. I know there are better places to get conservative news than from a needle-dick like O'reilly. I hope you all agree with me and as hard as it is, turn that shit off.
P.S. Promoting national depressions for other countries, that could be devestating to them and the US, strikes me as a bit insane, "Joe Insanity, the new reality show from Fox".

Incidentally, here's a transcript of that. It's sick...

This is the trademark M.O. of "Hardball" Chris Matthews, as parodied on Saturday Night Live. I can understand Matthews cutting off his guests, since they usually are the Paul Begala sort; we don't need to hear the rest of what they have to say. But O'Reilly's guests are often smaller fry; we've never heard what they stand for, and they deserve time to explain it.

He seems to have gotten really bad about this recently. I'm thinking of the time Annie Laurie Gaylor was on the Factor. He didn't cut her off so much as he said inane things. So this is a new method for O'Reilly.
