Cool

Strange for a "scientific" endeavor with no religious underpinnings...

jazz has made no secret of the fact that he is Mod 4, and fairly often answers posts addressed to the moderator under his jazzraptor pseudonym. It seems unlikely he'd object, although I can't be sure.

So call him jazzraptor or mod 4. There's no reason to use his real name, which won't be recognized by most people anyway, and there's good reason to avoid it -- it's one of the rules here to respect other people's requests for privacy.

Question

What if he specifically linked his pseudonym to another name (possibly real?) elsewhere? I just want to understand board policy here.

If it is common knowledge among members of this board or has some relevance, like Poster W is really Jan Peckis or something, then okay. Otherwise for sake of clarity and respect, we ask our users to refer to people using their handles or some obvious form there of.

I misunderstood, I didn't see anyone referring to him by his real name. Must have been edited, or maybe I just missed it. Sorry about that, I definitely agree that people's real names should not be used without their permission.

Yes -- I'd edited it out. Sorry for the confusion.

Missed this section from Dembski's latest <a href="http://www.iscid.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=000240" target="_blank">essay</a>:
Quote:
In his reply Orr takes me to task for not responding to the many particular objections he raised against my work in his original review, suggesting that this was the result of bewilderment on my part and intelligent design running out of steam and not, as was the case, for lack of space. This sort of rule-rigging by Orr and the Boston Review -- give the respondent a little space, and then let the original author crow about winning -- is to be expected. I actually find it encouraging, taking it as an indication of intelligent design's progress. Orr's review and follow-up hardly spell the death-knell for intelligent design or for my work in this area. Sooner or later (and probably sooner) Orr will find himself in a forum on intelligent design where the rules of engagement are not rigged in his favor. I look forward to his performance then.
LOL. It hasn't dawned on Dembski (or for that matter, his intellectual equal, Superbrains) that he is not even a speck on most academic's radar. And this ... this tantrum is what he's using to get their attention? How long do you guys think before the IDiots start drawing the comparison between what goes on at their internet forums and what they think is going in academia? You know, the sh... 'conspiracy' to stifle academic freedom and scientific discussion.
