42 More Early Christian Writings
Hello,
I did some digging and was surprised to find that there are actually forty-two documents that possibly date to the second century that were not included on my "Early Christian Writings" web site. So I have added these forty-two writings in a major update to my web site. Am I missing something or is there a reason the Diatesseron is not there? Isn't that second century?

Hi Vinnie,
The list you see above consists of forty-two documents that were added in the past few days. The Diatessaron has been part of the web site for quite a long time. There is currently a total of 156 documents on the web site (114 of which have been up there for over a year), all of which can be seen here: http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/ The Diatessaron is dated ca. 170-175 as I recall. best, Peter Kirby |

Searching works good
Found it. I forgot where (I think it was Brown's Intro to the NT) but i heard there was evidence of an earlier reconstruction than Tatian's Diatessaron. Do you know anything about this or have something like this included in the list? Vinnie |

Vinnie,
There have been suggestions that 2 Clement and Justin Martyr were dependent on gospel harmonies made before the Diatessaron. I haven't included these as separate documents, although I might write something about the sources of 2 Clement or Justin in their own files. I have included the "Dura-Europos Gospel Harmony" discussed by Goodacre et al. The date is given as 170-200, but that is actually the date of the papyrus itself, so the document may have come from some decades before. best, Peter Kirby http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/ |
