TM,
You DO realize where you are??? I don't see DarkBronzePlant's post as "making fun of them". Sure, a couple of us have made off-the-cuff wisecracks but c'mon... it's what we do. The fact of the matter is that many of us (if not most) see Focus on the Family as an organization that ultimately hurts, not helps. They very actively promote bigotry agains gays, for one, and James Dobson has been criticized (rightly, in my view) for his questionable stance on corporal punishment (it borders on abuse IMO). |

I'll tell you a funny story about "Focus on the Family". A good friend of mine in Denver is the son of one of the top guys that oversees FOTF. His Father doesn't even speak to him because he is heavily tattooed, and plays in a pop style punk band. Completely shuns him, but he has tapes of his father giving speaches to people, where he talks about toleration, and how nothing should tear a family apart.
Ironic. |

James Dobson should get with the program. Buy himself a big puffy bullet-proof wig and buy some airtime on TBN! They are raking in the mega bucks. Benny Hinn claimed a woman right there on the stage grew a new lung! She died a few weeks later of lung cancer. The only follow-up was done by journalists. Hell, they even sit in golden throne chairs! Paul and Jan Crouch bought a $5 million home in Newport beach last November. It had a better dog kennel. Benny drives a new Mercedes and also has a multi-million dollar home. WTF is this James Dobson's problem? He could be slaying them in the spirit and knocking them all down on the stage for special effects. Benny knocks people down by just blowing his breath on them. (give that man a mint)
Who in their right mind wouldn't laugh at this pair? Here's Benny after breathing on a bunch of chumps: har har |

CNN tonight
I was flipping through the channels and overheard that Dobson will be on one of the CNN shows tonight.
I didn`t catch which show it is and I`m not even familiar with their nightly lineup. I guess he`ll be crying about the lack of money and threatening us all about the shit we`ll be in for turning away from jesus. Cry me a fucking river, fudgelicker.:boohoo: |

And it's not just the manna-from-heaven bit. The Sermon on the Mount states that one should let the Xian God do the providing, because the Xian God takes care of the birds and the wildflowers, without them ever having to work. |

Well, come on, here...
Birds have to fight to survive. They have to feed themselves, and procreate, and avoid danger. You think they sleep on satin pillows just because they were born? Do you think every Christian will just assume a happy-go-lucky attitude because they have 'God' on their side? Just because their God supposedly loves them, does not mean that he would magically feed them if they decided to not move from a bath tub for 30 years. However, their soul is safe, and in the grand scheme of things (as in over hundreds or thousands of years) things will eventually be alright (after a horrible armageddon and so forth). Focus on the Family does rely on donations, but did God ever explicitely say that Focus on the Family is absolutely necessary? |

"God" never said anything, actually but certainly has had a lot attributed to him!
OK, seriously then... I guess I don't really understand your last question. Obviously FotF believes strongly that they are doing "the Lord's work". Now when I cracked wise with "the lord will provide" remark, I was NOT thinking of a "money miraculously appearing" scenario. I was thinking more along the lines of, if God was really pleased with their work, he would provide enough donations so that they *wouldn't* have to downsize. Work in the hearts of the brethren to give more, etc. etc. But somehow I doubt that if they are unable to rake in enough dough to continue their operations it will ever cross their mind that "maybe God doesn't like what we're doing here". |
