Exclamation A revival of Apollo's oracle

<a href="http://www.greecetravel.com/delphi/oracle.html" target="_blank">From a Greek tourism site</a>

The oracle of Apollo was one of the most impressive manifestations of the gods in the ancient world. And now it's back. It's run by New Age Christians rather than professing pagans, but it's still a great step forward for the Hellenic/Roman gods. The gods live!

Hi Ojuice5001,

Do you think that the Religio Romana/Hellenismos is becoming more popular?

Hi Perchance,

I think it's becoming more popular, but very slowly. It's hard to say for sure, since there are no reliable statistics for such a decentralized and small religion. But if I look hard enough I see signs for optimism.

Hi Ojuice5001,

Yes, I suppose it would be hard to gain statistics. I didn't even know that Greek and Roman Reconstructionism (as opposed to people who just liked worshipping the Greek and Roman gods) existed until a few months ago.

I'm encouraged to see the spread, if only because I think that the more religious beliefs people hold, the more pluralistic society becomes, and the more pluralistic society comes, the better the environment for non-believers.

Luck, then.

-Perchance.

It's nice to see all those colorful old faiths coming back again! Diversity is so beautiful... instead of having one Way/Truth/Life, one size fitting all...

Gods bless you, Ojuice.

I just read your link and this sounds awesome. I'm in the pre-planning stages for a European vacation and this is perfect. I'm with Heathen on this one, it is very pleasing to me to see the old religions making a come back. Perhaps it will help with religous tolerance and inspire the younger generation to philosophy and science.

I'm not in any way a pagan, but I'd be pleased to see an increase in Religio Romana/Hellenismos Reconstructionism, simply because Wiccan nature-worship seems so bland and colorless to me.

(No offense to Wiccans intended. This is just a matter of taste.)

Wicca isn't a religion of nature-worship, it's a mystery path of ceremonial magic, invocation of deities, raising energies and other supernatural codswallop. Wicca may be more eclectic than Religio Romana and Hellenismos, but in essence it is similar to them: an irrational, insane theistic system.

I can't believe how I could ever have been attracted to Wicca in the past. I was never attracted to Religio Romana or Hellenismos. I had thought Wicca was a nature-worshipping path. Now I know better. Thank goodness for secular paganism.

It can also be accurately described as an ancient Celtic religion dating back to the 1920-30's when Gerald Gardner read a load of codswallop by Margaret Murray and paid Aleister Crowley to write some diluted, pissweak versions of the incredibly ancient and uterly authentic rituals dating back to the 1870's (from the Golden Dawn)and 19-teens (from himself) that he was into.

Most Wiccans can't cope with this and refuse to do their homework but then, let's face it, Christianity and Islam do not have a monopoly on anti-intellectual fundamentalistic, instant gratificationary bullshitism.
