Robertson's spreading empire
Particularly in this forum, the soi-disant American Centre for Law and Justice has been discussed. As we all know, this organisation was founded by Pat Robertson as a "Christian fundie shyster A-team", as I've described them before. I might complacently dismiss this as an American thing, but the scum have invaded Europe:
Exhibit A: the European Centre for Law and Justice; note how Jay Sekulow is chief counsel for the ECLJ as well as the ACLJ - like he knows anything about Napoleonic Code legal systems. What disturbs me is this page about the legalisation of euthanasia in the Netherlands, since it relates to my own country - I bet they're just waiting for someone here to start a case so they can handle it. A friend of mine had euthenasia performed last June after the terminal intestinal cancer he was suffering from had spread to his lungs was starting to impede his breathing; at least he didn't die in pain. I suspect the ECLJ would have made him do so, if they could. And the twerps can't even spell their own mailing address properly - where is "Strousbourg"? Exhibit B: the Slavic Centre for Law and Justice; more of the same. Note, however, that the only case they're handling is for the Salvation Army - not a Russian Orthodox organisation. Looks like defending the Orthodox church isn't on their agenda; Protestants only, please. Exhibit C: the Centre Français pour la Justice et les Droits fondamentaux de la personne humaine; unlike the others, actually staffed by Frenchmen (note: men, not a female lawyer listed), but that's to be expected. [Pythonesque french accent]No American lawyaire can understand ze intricacie of ze Frenshe legal systmème, bien sûr![/Pythonesque French accent] All I can think is: Get these people off my continent! I do not want to see Jay Sekulow poisoning the courts of Europe! The mere existence of the ECLJ implies that Europeans haven't got round to inventing the concept of justice yet (despite the existence of the European Convention on Human Rights and the court to go with it) and these Translatlantic fundies will teach us; I suspect these types liken themselves to the US Army in 1944, bringing liberation to a benighted continent. Well, guess what? We were happy to see the US Army (thanks, guys!), but not American fundies. That's one import we can do without - hell, why do you think we shipped them to the New World in the first place? (my apologies to free-thinking Americans for that, on behalf of the continent of Europe) |

I always hoped that this couldn't happen in Europe, since you guys had a lot of experience with religious wars. Looks like you'll be infected, hopefully you will rebuild your immune system and rid the body of Europe of this contagion out the closest orifice. Good luck.
By the way, in another thread I saw you might be hoping to come to the US. I feel I can say there a lot less fundies in the Northeast then in the Northwest. I humbly invite you to Connecticut anytime you feel like coming. |

Fuck it, let them waste their fundy-money in Europe, I can't see them getting any results over here.
Besides wouldn't it be fun to see what his opinions are on the Netherlands. I mean he called Scotland "a dark country overrun by homosexuals," imagine what he would call a country which allows euthanasia and gay-marriages, and tolerates the sale and consumption of soft-drugs. I can’t wait! Bring 'em on. |

Send em to Antarctica - nobody there to care, so they can set up their theocratic empire there. You might even be able to convince em to go on their own by mentioning that there's plenty of oil there, so they can set up a Christian Oil Theocracy to rival the Islamic ones.
