Post Request For FAQs (RFF)

Adam Marczyk has just posted the newly updated list of requested articles for the Talk.Origins Archive. This list show just a little of the many things that the Archive really needs to cover but is currently either not doing so or not doing so adequately.

<a href="http://www.talkorigins.org/origins/faqs-rff.html" target="_blank">http://www.talkorigins.org/origins/faqs-rff.html</a>

Please consider contributing.

Most of the flood topics are covered already aren't they? The problems with a global flood faq for example. Lenny Flank has an excellent article on the flood nonsense here.

I've seen a lot of the other topics covered on the net as well.

Punctuated equilibrium/common misconceptions
<a href="http://ucsu.colorado.edu/~theobal/PE.html" target="_blank">http://ucsu.colorado.edu/~theobal/PE.html</a>

The population growth argument
I'm not sure what that's there. It's already covered by Dave Matson. For that matter, it's also covered by Lord Valentine on his page.

"Ancient Christians who accept evolution and an old earth Modern Christians who accept evolution and an old earth"

Obviously not REAL Christians.

"Shared pseudogenes between humans and other primates"

<a href="http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/molgen" target="_blank">http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/molgen</a>

"The evolution of dog breeds"

That's not evolution! It's still a dog!

"Kent Hovind's $250,000 challenge"

Couldn't one be put togather from the feedback alone? Nearly every month some idiot brings that up. Not to mention the pages at No Answers in Genesis. I'm sure he'd be happy to contribute.
<a href="http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/kent_hovind_page.htm" target="_blank">http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/kent_hovind_page.htm</a>

"The Santorum Amendment"

Just contact Dr. Ken Miller. He's dragged those claims through the mud lots lf times.
<a href="http://www.millerandlevine.com/km/evol/santorum.html" target="_blank">http://www.millerandlevine.com/km/evol/santorum.html</a>

"Phillip Johnson's Darwin on Trial"

It's already there!

Anyway, I'm puzzled as to why topics that are already covered are there. A lot of other topics are already covered but on other pages. I think the best thing to do is to contact the authors and ask to post it on TO archive.

Other topics I think are pointless such as the evolution of dog breeds. I can hear the cries of "it's still a dog" already... Maybe I'm missing something there.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the link. There is one topic, taphonomy, that I would write as I have a number of publications in the area. But for several months there has been an indication that someone else is working on it. My major down time is not until July and I'll check again.

Actually I would consider the Phillip Johnson material currently in the Archive to be not very adequate.

A lot of what you are mentioning as being in the Archive are handled very briefly but not in depth. The flood stuff being a good case and point. The "Problems With a Global Flood" FAQ briefly mentions paleosols, but really does not systematically make the point.

Some of the articles at the Archive are fairly out of date.

The population issue, you might have notice the yellow box. Wesley Elsberry is doing that.

Also bear in mind that simply relying on outside articles has its risks: many articles do not have stable locations. Mine are going to have to be moved soon. Not to mention those annoying Geocities stuff like ads that cover up the article and limits to how many people can access them in a day. As it is the Archive is just litered with broken links. It is not as bad as it was a few months ago, but still a lot of work needs to be done.

In any event, there is a lot of material there that is not covered in any amount of detail.
