I met Nader today.
I asked him what was his opinion about religion in politics. He said that a secular society should have secular politicians, and then lamented about "religious" politicians not following the golden rule.

He's going to be in Atlanta later tonight for a rally. He stopped Athens and spoke at UGA. My girlfirend and I went to go hear him. Afterwards, there was a book signing, and I asked him the question as he signed a flyer for me.
Of interesting note, the county's Green Party held a party afterwards (with Nader) at The 40 Watt Club, a music bar owned by REM. (We decided not to go.) The funny thing is that it was a smoke free party, which is very suprising considering the venue. -RvFvS |

I'm so jealous. I wanted to go so badly, but I guess it was a packed house. I'm going to see him in Atlanta tonight though.

OT, there is an "article" about the 40 Watt club in The Onion this week which I urge you to read.

That article blew my mind. The first time I read it to make sure all my friends were ok. It's especially funny because I'm a college radio DJ.

Toto, don't feel too bad. I think that article is hilarious because I live in Athens, like indie rock, am a college radio DJ, see shows at the 40 Watt all the time, and buy music from Wuxtry and School Kid Records. I'd would say it is written for a pretty specific audience.

You actually met Ralph?!?! <sigh> I bet he has dreamy eyes...
Seriously, I like his answer to your question and...The Green Party and R.E.M. in the same post...I gotta love that. |
