Thumbs up

I've got none of my own, but I have found these links.

<a href="http://www.angelfire.com/tx/greendyfan/topten12.html" target="_blank">Here</a>, <a href="http://www.abarnett.demon.co.uk/atheism/bumpers.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.instantattitudes.com/complete.html" target="_blank">here.</a>

NB: not all of those on the last one are atheistic, although a lot of them are.

Hummm...I've seen all the ones Rational Ag posted before...

Did you get them off <a href="http://www.coolsig.com" target="_blank">www.coolsig.com</a> ? They have quite a big selection under "religion".

I've been trying to collect a list of nontheistic signature files myself - for my website - so here are my latest, anyway. Not all of these are funny:

"The gods help those who help themselves" Aesop

"If God is man, then man is God" Mary Daly

"We know what happens to people who stay in the middle of the road. They get run over." Aneurin Bevan (so, he was talking about politics, It could do just as well for religion!)

"An atheist is a man who has no invisible means of support" John Buchan

"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest" Denis Diderot

[Remark at Pearl Harbour, 1941]
"Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" Howell Forgy (attributed)

"Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires" Sigmund Freud

"It is there, where they burn books, that eventually they burn people too" Heinrich Heine

"The Puritan hated bear-baiting, not because it gave pain to the bear, but because it gave pleasure to the spectators" Thomas Macaulay

"I count religion but a childish toy,
And hold there is no sin but ignorance."
Christopher Marlowe

"Religion...is the opium of the people" Karl Marx

"Faith may be defined briefly as an illogical belief in the occurrence of the improbable" H L Mencken

"Man is quite insane. He would not know how to create a maggot , and he makes Gods by the dozen" Michel de Montaigne

"God is dead: but men's natures are such that for thousands of years yet there will perhaps be caves in which his shadow is seen" Friedrich Nietzsche

I have always liked that spot in the Simpsons where Ned Flanders is praying and says something like "Dear lord, you know I've always been your faithful servant and believed everything in the Bible - even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff."

In dark ages people are best guided by religion, as in a pitch-black night a blind man is the best guide; he knows the roads and paths better than a man who can see. When daylight comes, however, it is foolish to use blind, old men as guides.

As a matter of fact, I do think that's where I got them. I collected a bunch of sayings a while back, and I know I've been to that website.

I tend to gather that kind of stuff, I just copied and pasted a few of the ones I have.
