Well, I see that Godless Dave has already pointed you towards the Atheist's Testimony thread, which is what I would have done. Not all of us are, but I'd say probably most have been at one time. I considered myself a Lutheran for about 5-6 years. I started falling away from religion in high school, and it accelerated during college.

I answered "yes", and was going to add the caveat that many fundies don't consider Catholics to be "Real" xians. But based on your last post I'm guessing that you do.

Tell me about it...which is ironic since we were here LONG before "The Fundamentals" was published in 1929.

Just to oblige....
I was raised RC and went through the Separate System (read: Catholic school system) in Calgary for my primary and secondary education.
I stopped believing when I was 9 (not that I really believed in the first place) because it just seemed too silly to be true.

Default I was a convert to the Roman Catholic

......*SECT*, at about the age of 30, or so (I forget!) for a number of reasons.... And I left at about the age of, um,40 (i forget!) when I realized that "they" were/are lying/ a bunch of liars. It was though that banal ol' "Problem of Evil" that cut the cord for me though; specifically the brutal murder of that
six-year-old girl.... my ****!, my brains are turning to mush, I thought my rotting dust would cry-out her name....

Yeah, I understand why some people NEED religious belief.....

I was raised Jewish, but never believed. I was surprised to learn, when I was a teen I guess, that my mother actually has some sort of undefined theistic belief. My father, I still have no idea. My experience of religious school as a kid was that they wanted to teach us about religion, but god had nothing to do with it.

I'll add to your research, I was christian growing up. Southern Baptist. I mean, hell, I live in SC, what other choice did I have?

I slipped to agnostic around high school... fell into sanity (atheist) around 20 or so.

So what's guiding the "psychology exploration "??
