Default Is there a theological explanation for sleep?

One of those seemingly minor things that makes no sense to me where a god is concerned is why would a god gives us humans on average 70 plus years to find the "truth", but force us to spend one-third (for those who get 8 hours) of our life unconscious? Will the truth be revealed to me in a dream?

Well, he's watching over us always, but he's only got so much time, you know? When we're asleep, he can concentrate elsewhere.

The theological one is the same as the scientific one. It allows the body to rest and repair itself.

But God must have had some reason to construct a body that couldn't rest and repair itself 'on the fly', right?

What was that reason?

The fall of mankind, brought sin and death into the world. Our bodies our corrupt and deteriorate, sleep keeps it repairing itself. Before the fall of mankind, sleep probably wasn't needed, because humans weren't originally created to get tired or worn out.
