Default Why would you want to die?

I keep hearing the arguement "would you really want to live forever?" Well why would you not?

If you live forever, doesn't everyone else live forever, too? But, "hell is other people" as far as I recall, and that includes your parents, coworkers, and enemies. Perhaps if I were immortal I would choose to live in a cave as to avoid contacts with the human species--at least most of the time.

If life didn't end, life would have no value.

Who would want to be old and shriveled in a wheelchair for all eternity?

Look at your wife now
Imagine her 60 years in the future
Extrapolate that to 2.38 billion years from now

I don't know; I currently can't imagine being bored with life, but I'm not very old yet. Perhaps thirty years from now my opinions will differ.

I certainly can't see any shortage of things to do in under a thousand years. I don't buy the argument that, if life didn't end, it would be valueless. Things are still more or less pleasant, or interesting.

I do want to live forever, or at least for as long as I still enjoy life.

I also would love to live forever as a fairly young man. Growing old sucks and dying sucks even more.
