Default Robert Price Debating at UCLA

Hey everyone, if you're in the LA area, this Wednesday night, April 23 at 8:00pm, Robert Price is debating some preacher from Yale (i think) named Boyd (I think) at the Ackerman Union Grand Ballroom at UCLA.

The title of the debate is "Is the Jesus of History the Jesus of Faith?"

There should be a good time had by all.

i'll try to find more about it, but i'm pretty sure there's no admission fee or anything like that.

This should probably be moved to BC&A

Last bump, i swear- there's no admission fee, the girl i talked to said just show up ten minutes early to get a good seat, so it doesn't sound like the turnout is going to be ridculously large, but who knows.

Just curious, is anyone actually planning on coming? So far it's just been me posting to my self.

Where do I get directions, particularly on how to find the site on the UCLA campus? I'm in Orange County.

Will there be a transcript of the debate published?

best,
Peter Kirby

I'm going to try to get there, but driving on the 405 to UCLA and parking ($7 now) is always a big hassle.

I got an email about it from the Center for Inquiry West that said there would be a reception afterwards at 9:30.

But you won't recognize me.

If you're driving from north Orange County, take the 91 west to the 405 north, go north to the Sunset exit, turn right, and drive until you get to Westwood Plaza, where there will be one of the campus kiosks that will give you a map and sell you a parking sticker. Ackerman Ballroom is close by. Allow a lot of extra time for traffic congestion, parking problems, etc.

More information here: http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/parking/sppark.htm

edited to add: the transition from the 91 to the 405 is a bit strange. I think you need to take the exit for the Harbor Freeway, but then immediately merge right to get to the 405. Check with mapquest.

Reception? Is it separate from the actual debate? And if so, where is it held? Assuming a random person like me would be able to attend, i would love to find out more about it.

Oh, and why wouldn't i recognize you? (other than the fact that i don't know what you look like)

All I know is what I got in the email from CFIW. I imagine the reception will be in the area and open to anyone who is interested.

I think that Veritas is a Christian group, connected to Campus Crusade for Christ. Be prepared.
