No, Finch was pretty tame in that thread. The Christian poster in question I'm sure was a drive-by preacher. He posted several links about the "24,000 manuscript" claim, and was a real dick.

1. They are composed of eye witness accounts to Jesus Christ. By several eye witnesses to Christ.
2. When were these 25 books of eye witness accounts composed?

The Gospels Matthew, Mark, and Luke were each written within 20 years after Christs death. Dr. John A. T. Robinson states that the Gospel of Matthew was written as early as A.D. 40, within eight years of Christ.
A little late with the April Fool's Day jokes aren't we?

Lol, and atheists think we are stubborn. I don't blame God for not showing you His truth through Miracles, you would find some way to discredit them no matter what. The Bible is accurate, deal with it and move on.

Somehow, this sentence just told me all I needed to know about the author.

A few other notes:

P52 is generally dated between 125 & 175. It is a tiny fragment of GJn amounting to only a handful of partial verses which is of little value in establishing anything about canonical GJn.
I have no idea where that 24,000 number ever came from. I suspect someone just made it up, but if we are talking about copies of the NT there are only on the order of 5900 or so prior to the advent of the printing press. Of those about 90% of them are from the 13th century or later.

what does it mean to say something is often refuted on this board. It sure doesn't mean it's not ture. Sorry you are totally wrong. i don't know if there are 24000 copies, I've seen that figure, who cares? There are more copies, many more, and much textual validity for the NT than for any other book in the ancient world. That is a true statment and can be documented easily.

see the Bruce book The New Testament Documents Now granted that guy trys to squeez way too milage out of that fact. His long ramble is not good apologetics. But its not true that all the copies are different and textual validity is really bad. The textual validity for the NT is better than any other book in the ancinet world. Probably cause its production came at a time when Western civ was in decline (dark ages) but since it was the religious text of the times, that's the one text they made a concered effort to save more than any other, copying it even when they couldn't read it.

I would say something, but it would only be mythconstrued.

Magus, you dug yourself into a little hole here.

So I guess Magus is saying that god is *not* omnipotent, cause He can't get through to us thickheaded skeptics.

I wonder if self rightousness, arrogance and a condescending attitude are traits of a 'True Christian?' Sure seems like it.

Edited for clarity and spelling

How does that have anything to do with omnipotence? How many times do you have to hear that God doesn't force belief on people? If you choose not to believe, God isn't gonna make you. He gave you sufficient enough info to believe in Him. Many people just choose to ignore it.
