Newdow and his daughter
Last night, O'Reilly played part of interview he did with Newdow in which he spent the entire portion shown suggesting that Newdow "used" his daughter for his own agenda and that she now faces harrassment because of him. The point is that I have noticed that the accusation of using his daughter is leveled by everyone that interviews him and opposes his cause. It blows my mind that Newdow is the bad parent for "using" his daughter whereas no says anything about the parents of the childern that will presumably harrass his daughter. Its as if the harrassment is justified because the girl is related to an atheist. I seriously doubt anyone would accuse a Christian parent of using their child if they went to court to defend the Constitution.
I also find it ironic that the same people upsetat the pledge ruling are the same people that think posting the Ten Commandments will instill morality in childern, yet these very same people threaten a man and his daughter because the father successfully sues to have "under God" removed from the pledge. |

Yeah, they're probably the same people who would have us put prayer back in the schools, too. Also, I know this has been mentioned before, but we got through two world wars and a depression with a godless pledge.

Of course, it must be noted that most of these people probably aren't familiar with the history of the Pledge in the first place. Pledge History (I'd appreciate it if anyone can point out any errors in that link. Parts of it sound too good.) joe |

joedad,
You said it better than I did. Basically, they are saying, "How dare you expose your daughter to the likes of us? Shouldn't you have known before you started that us "good" Christians would be forced to threaten you and your daughter for even daring to prevent us from subverting the Constitution? What kind of a parent are you?" |
