I repeat. "Seems a shame that your god can't inspire proper translation."

Yup. Your god is pretty useless. Can't even deliver a coherent message. Such a shame. If he could, maybe the world would be a better place.

Man has never made a proper use of God's gifts. God gave men the sun, moon, and stars for signs, and for seasons, to govern the day, and the night, and the years. But no one to-day can tell us what year (Anno Mundi) we are actually living in! In like manner God gave us His Word, but man, compassed with infirmity, has failed to preserve and transmit it faithfully.

The worst part of this is that man charges God with the result, and throws the blame on Him for all the confusuion due to his own want of care.

The Old Testament had from very early times official custodians of the Hebrew text. Its Guilds of Scribes, Nakdanim, Sopherim, and Massorites elaborated plans by which the original text has been preserved with the greatest possible care. But though, in this respect, it had advantages which the Greek text of the New Testament never had, it nevertheless shows many signs of human failure and infirmity. Man has only to touch anything to leave his mark upon it.

Still waiting for you to apply your god-inspired reasoning to the following subject...

"The hunter shot the prarie dog with his high velocity 30 caliber, a 30-416 Rigby, which is the fastest of all cartridges."

Is the 30-416 Rigby the fastest of all cartridges?

A knowledge of ballistics isn't necessary. Simply apply your Biblical logic.

I need to know if the Fig. Ellipsis applies here.

You need to understand literary styles if you expect to understand what you are reading.

Otherwise, you are committing the Fallacy of Composition in which you assume that what is true for one literary style must be true for all.

In other words, your argument has its basis in bad reasoning.

Or in other words, you can't answer the question. Which is the same as admitting that the Bible is incomprehensible unless the reader is properly indoctrinated. AKA the Bible is not capable of being understood by the average human being. Demonstrate otherwise if you can...which you can't because you've spent the last couple of hours demonstrating that special knowledge is necessary to properly understand the Bible.

I think Dr. Bullinger said it best,

"The Root of all the evils which abound in the spiritual sphere at the present day lies in the fact that the Word and the words of God are not fed upon, digested, and assimilated, as they ought to be. If we ask the question, Why is this the case? the answer is, The Bible is not enjoyed because the Bible is not understood. The methods and rules by which alone such an understanding may be gained are not known or followed; hence the Bible is a neglected book."

Before, you were innocent. You assumed that a proper understanding (or criticizing) of the Bible required only basic English reading skills. Now you know better. Now you are not innocent.

It was a pleasure hammering nails into your coffin.

So is the 30-416 the fastest of all cartridges or not? What does Dr. Bullinger's logic have to say when applied to the subject?
