Tennessee court victory!
I was on a long vacation this winter, and haven't posted in quite a while...but a quick look through the C-SS forum didn't show any threads on this topic.
Bible class court victory! The Freedom From Religion Foundation (which I have belonged to for a few years, and you SHOULD belong to!) recently won a court victory in Rhea County TN. The school board there, for the last 51 years, has allowed Bryan Bible College students to come in and teach bible classes in the public schools. These bible classes were 30 minutes, taught the bible 'as literally true' and were taught in grades K-5. Some local yahoo wrote to the paper and said that 'whoever took these classes out should be strung up'. So much for Christian loving kindness! I thought it was great news. -Kelly |

Thanks for sharing that Kelly, I really enjoyed the article.
I suppose my naivete is showing when I tell you that I would not have believed such a practice even existed in this day and age. I know that we are up against the infusion of the christian god in our public schools, but BIBLE CLASSES?! So nice to see that practice is ending. I wonder if this is going on anywhere else in the country? [ April 03, 2002: Message edited by: callina ]
|
