Post piltdown man and the "british museum"

A creationist has brought up the pitldown man and claimed that because of it the "british museum" (no mention of which one. Britian has more than one doesn't it? ) is not claiming any other fossil is transitional. I suspect strongly that this claim is major league bullshit. Anyone know for sure?

My guess would be that he thinks Colin Patterson speaks for the "british museum".

Actually, there is a British Museum:

Yes, but I think the one meant is the Natural History Museum

I suppose it is possible that this was originally a department of the British Museum, which is certainly older.

DS: Yuck yuck;-) Actually The British Isles are a museum-lover's paradise. You could spend two weeks in London alone and not get through all the museums there, especially if you include things like the Waxworks museum and The Planetarium. Then there are things like The Botanical Gardens at Kew, The Commonwealth Institute, and the various art galleries.

Having said that, there very definitiely is a museum called The British Museum.

tgamble,

Which "british museum?

The British Museum. That is its name.

Of course, the creationist is still full of it.

Looks like their exhibits focus more on artifacts rather than fossils.

Oh yes, the Natural History Museum is the place that deals with fossils. The British Museum is basically archeological finds and historical objects. This claim is BS.

But isn't the British Museum the one the creationists claim will not let anyone study the Archie fossils? I vaguely remember seeing letters posted by creationists claiming to be denied access to Archie. Which of course isn't true, the museum permits scientists (with expertise in the area) access to Archie.
