Xn? Xian? We might as well just say X for Christian now. That's what they are. (oooh I'll catch hell for that). Anyway, yeah, fundy Christians want "rights" for fundy Christians, but when someone else gets the same rights, then they want more. I think if Ms. Murray O'Hair had wanted to ban all school prayer, that's wrong, but if she wanted to stop teacher and student-led prayer, I sympathize. I mean, really, this just goes to show again that most Christians rely on mass-based activities. Ever heard of a Christian solitary practitioner? Not really. How hard is it to pray silently at your desk or wherever you like? It's not like you have to announce to the world, "HEY, I'M PRAYING NOW". But then again, that's what the evangelical "New Revival" depends on. I was reading in my college history book today about the Enlightenment. It seems that this new movement is either a resurrection of that, or it hasn't stopped since. With this new advent of science and technology, religious fundamentalists know they have one foot in the grave. We're winning. No theocracy for you. Neener neener.

While I agree with you entirely that the best response is to just leave them alone, it'd be a shame to miss my son's impression of the "See You at the Pole" prayers.

His face goes all slack, he half closes his eyes and looks around shiftily, and makes creepy little slurpy noises with his mouth, so he looks like a retarded rabbit or something, and intersperses things like, "Jebus, I could really go for a Big Gulp right now. And some wimmins."

The fruit never falls far from the tree, does it? I'd buy a ticket to see that show. "Big Gulp and some wimmins" -- lmao

Ack these people are boring! "We talked about the bible, praying, church etc..." I am ok with Christian people but when they start talking about god and that stuff it is just irritating.

Given all the recent church sex scandals you'd think they could come up with better terminology than The 30-Second Kneel Down.

Sabine,
In Jeanne d'Arc country (which happens to be mine), pupils/students who want to have spiritual experiences by kneeling down when praying do it in church (eventually school chapels when they exist) or in private homes, not in public schools paths.
