Post Have you admit defeat in a religious argument?

Simply because they're too dumb to comprehend everything?

Start:

Naive Christian: Who or what created the first cell?

ME: Who created God? His mom? Jerry Springer?

Naive Christian: No, no, you answer me first!

ME: It can't be explained because another question will materialise. Ad infinitium.

Naive Christian: That's all? If you can't explain why still deny God?

Just a stupid example...

You could have told him about organic RNA microspheres. I'm sure he would understand.

Yeah, that's why I try not to debate with them. When I was debating on Christian boards, I would spend hours researching my answers to a particular point, and at least an hour or two carefully constructing and posting my reply, only to have the person misunderstand or even ignore what I was trying to get at. They would continue to post mindless drivel. It was a complete waste of my time, except for the nice side effect of me learning stuff in the process.

Now, if they would make an effort to communicate in a two way discussion it would be a completely different story, but they are set on proving themselves right and couldn't care less about actual conversation.

Thats pretty much SOP, it sometimes works both ways, though not often.
Take the time to do the research, spend valuable effort putting your thoughts together in a very clear way, type your little fingers to the bone....... look proudly at your argument and rebuttal to the average christians points.....

Your answer will be OH YEA.....well I dont care what you say....the bible is always correct cause it's the word of god and what you say means nothing to me you satanic moron atheist.

Oh well ........

Arguing science with most Christians is like arguing photography with a blind man. What is the point. If they are Christians they are automatically reality challenged. They have to accept at least one miracle. I am not sure if accepting the one miracle places their mind in brain lock or if Christianity selects for weak minds.

One of my most frustrating arguements was in this arena.

Opponent: A fundy YEC.

Topic: Evolution or not of the eye.

My post to him was a multi-page, cross-indexed, bibliobraphed and referenced detailing of the light sensitive organ-to-eye evolution showing living examples, fossil record, and scientific predictions that were later borne true by fossil finds. transitionals and transitionals between transitionals detailed throughout.

His response. "No."

That is all. No rebuttal, no discussion, just "no".
He then went on to re-iterate his original position that the eye disproves evolution, and that no one has been able to show him any different. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />

I still argue them, and have had some success in badgering them to either rebutt or admit defeat. it is still a toss-up.

I get prayed for a lot, too.

Yeah. I have noticed an instance or two when the Christian posted a carefully crafted response, and the Atheist either mocked that response or continue spewing nonsense without addressing the post. Of course in my experience such cases are rare, but I suppose they do happen.

That pretty much sums up a good majority of debates I've had with Christians. In fact I got roped into a mini discussion about evolution last night, and I posted some basic reasons why people accept the theory. I didn't spend a considerable amount of time writing, but I did try to cover the main points. She replied with a Bible quote saying that wise men will be fools because they learn too much and try to downplay God's creation (or something like that). Didn't even consider my reasons, or look into those reasons. She already made up her mind that scientists were too smart for their own good, and that the Bible said this very thing would happen. Grr...
