More dishonesty from ID proponents....
As you all know, the "Santorum Amendment" was stripped from H.B 1 (the education bill recently signed by Prez. Bush), and a watered-down version of that amendment was inserted into the conference report.
The H.B. 1 conference report is *not* part of the bill and has no force of law. But you'd never know that by reading http://www.sciohio.org/contactboe.htm . Scroll down a bit, and you'll find the following: SHORT MESSAGES ARE BEST. COMPOSE YOUR OWN MESSAGE, OR USE THE SIMPLE MODEL BELOW. PLEASE RESPOND BY APRIL 7. Model message. Dear Mr./Mrs. Boardmember: I am concerned about the state’s draft science standards that support an "evolution only" stance on biological origins. Please modify these standards so that they follow the proposal made by Dr. Meyer on March 11. This will lead to fair, reasonable, and objective standards that are consistent with the Santorum language in H.B. 1. Sincerely yours, Ohio Citizen BTW, this material was posted at the sciohio.org web-site *after* ID proponents were publicly admonished by Dr. Kenneth Miller for misrepresenting the conference report language as part of the education bill. |
