Astral traveling?
I'm interested in your views on this. A few years ago I achieved this. Afterwards I told my self that it was a self induced reality and was most likely a dream but, now that I think of some of the factors that went into it I think I may have really experienced it. I was sitting on my bed and I wanted something but I didn't know what. I closed my eyes and forced my heart rate to drop. after a few minutes I let out a final breath and opened my eyes. I sat up and as I looked behind me I could see my body. I was not see through or anything like that. So I got up and tried to walk but I didn't have much control of my movements. It was like I was really drunk. My mum came in the room and tried to wake me up and she paniced and left the room. I paniced as I didn't know how to get back in my body. I closed my eyes, focused, and when I opened them I was back. I had to suck in air as I was out and I felt like I was about to suffocate. My whole body hurt after that for a while. I told my mother what I had seen and done and she freaked. I tried it a few more times after that and got control of my movements. but then I criticaly assesed everything I knew about god, life, souls etc and told myself that is was self induced. The thing is, I didn't want it to happen. It just did! I practised it again today for novelties sake and it happened again after a few goes. I'm restricted to my room and cannot lift any pysical objects. And walking is like walking on mud where one foot sinks lower than the other etc. I'm a bit disturbed by this all and am wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences

Not same, just a bit carefree way. I used to have (still do whenever I'm sick) to have experience of leaving my body and "flying", usually floating above my house, few feets above my roof and looking. It is clear and doesn't seems to be like a dream where you will have fuzzy experience and wonder whether that is real or this is real.
Sometimes, I just "fly" around my neighbour and remembers every detail of it when I wake up (unlike dreaming). I never thought it as Astal projection or anything like that, just something that happens to me whenever I'm sick or physically tired. I remember my first experience of such. I was about 10 something, and I remember "climbing" straight up and floating above my roof looking around. It was very dark but I could see it as clear as day (for some odd reason). |

hmmmm. It's all disturbing. It raises so many questions about life as we know it, and the human mind!

These are my thoughts on it so far:
A. Something leaves the body. 1. Physical theories 2. Physical astral world theory 3. Mental astral world theory B. Nothing leaves the body 1. Parapsychological theory 2. Psychological theories It's disturbing because it's hard to control and personaly it's new. |

In Astral Projection, your mind projects your image outside and see the world as it is. In OBE and NDE, you will experience dream-like world. Whether there is such thing as Physical and Mental Astral worlds is something I have yet to experience (maybe you have). The "worst" I got is flying and bounching on physical world (surrounding which I'm familiar with) or seeing something which my brain can interpret properly. |

Well, I have. I have experience of Astral Projection and NDE.
Only difference between this two are the state of the brain is in in this two conditions. In Astral Projection for example, you will have perfect conditions (after some practise like you experienced) of how to move (or in my case, how to fly or float ... fits my name, no?) and this experience you can "carry forward" to your next time you experience it. In my case, I usually experience it when I'm sick or physically tired. In NDE or OBE, you will have no control over your body and will experience something like something suck you out and drop you into another world. You may not move properly in this state and will be like a leave on water, move where the water takes you and experience whatever you are forced to experience. This is what I consider as dream-state. In Astral projection, most of time you won't see anything new but in OBE/NDE (at least in my case), sometimes you can get glimpse of future events which at first you may not remember but after a while (like me) you will remember it after getting TOO many deja vu. Either way, enjoy your trip outside the normal realm. Whether it is real or just some "mental disorder", in the end it is up to you. As for me, I know what I felt and seen and that is enough. |

wow! now THAT is interesting! I'm always having weird dreams of the future. I'll be doning something and I'll know what is about to happen. I freak alot of people out as I tell them what is about to happen in great detail and it does. I have no control over these things! wow.

I advise you to practice with cantrips before you go messing around with this too much. Work your way up to at least Polymorph self, then explore the Astral plane.
