Complete and utter bullshit, dreamed up by this lying piece of shit after reading a tiny item in the Washington Times "reporting" on an unsubstantiated, and at the time, unpublished(!) opinion piece by Howard Fineman.

Those guys never tire of portraying themselves as victims, it would seem. Someone ought to tell these self-pitying whiners that they are indulging in a cult of victimhood.

Because some people have found, you know, similarities in the treatment of Palestinians and European Jews. To an extent.

That's so funny it reminds me of Landover Baptist's "God Damn You to Hell for Calling us Fundamentalists" (or something similar...I think that's right.) He's making an idiot of no one but himself. He can never go back after the Sept. 13 comments...no matter how much he tries.

I totally agree with you. When one does this one is usually declared a bigot or anti-semetic as well just because (As another said on here), "They are the damn Jews...", as if this excused everything they have done in the so-called name of "self-defence".

The Germans used pretty much the same sort of excuses at the time as well as the Isrealis are using now.

When fundies burn Harry Potter books, then yes, in that firelight their faces begin to resemble the visages of the intolerant Taliban.

It's not so much about what they believe, it's the level of intolerance that draws the comparison. Undoubtedly, burning books isn't nearly as bad as forbidding women education, or the physical abuse and brutality the Taliban was known for. But it is that radical intolerance (hatred even?) for views other than one's own, that leads to even worse actions than the mere burning of paper, ink and glue.

I would say fundies burning books is equivalent to the Taliban blowing up Buddhist statuary.

Sadly, comparing Israeli Jews with Nazis isn't that unthinkable anymore, either. Being in the U.S., I get the impression we get a filtered view of Israel. We don't get all the news here, all the details of how Israel treats and has treated the Palestinians.

We should have put the Jews in Montana.
