Post Pope: Crosses belong in all schools

Hey the pope recently said that all schools and hospitals should display the cross because he's scared of increasing secularization. Nothing surprising, but it may be of interest to some ppl

Do you think he's talking about American public schools?

Of course he's worried about secularization. He can see the trend in history.

If the Pope is scared, then I'm happy.

He might have to get a real job.

That's a pretty "duh" news story though. I'm sure the pope would love to see crosses everywhere. If the pope came out strongly in favour of global secularization, or was going to sell all of the vatican's treasures and put the money towards birth control education and free condoms in overpopulated third-world countries, that would be news.

From the link:

In his weekly appearance to pilgrims and tourists at his summer retreat, the pope said the principle symbol of Christianity is the image of Jesus dying on the cross.

He seems here to be talking more about a crucifix than a Cross. I wonder if he'd settle for the (more Protestant) empty Cross or really wants the almost exclusively Catholic Crucifix displayed?

And what, is Secularization some kind of vampire that can be driven away by the Cross? Perhaps Holy Water coming out of the drinking fountains would help as well.

Yeah but...it's the Pope, for cyrin' out loud. It'd be bizarre if he *didn't* feel that way.

Now if this was dubya talking....

Anyone who opposes medicine because it "violates the mystery of human disease" can jump in a wood chipper as far as I'm concerned.
