Probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen in a newspaper...
Man, this has it all... words fail me... if someone submitted this here, I would say that they were a troll... this guy has to be (considering it was web-posted)... it's just too ridiculous. Every line is a travesty.

I don't think there's a single line in that piece of trash that doesn't have a logical fallacy or show an incredible amount of ignorance.

You want to know what is wrong with Democracy?
People like this can vote. Sobering thought, isn't it? |

What do you suppose the editor's motive is in printing such ridiculous garbage? I'm not talking about the "official" motive of giving citizens a forum for contributing to public debate. Do you think that newspaper editors secretly laugh up their sleeves when they present this sort of thing, or are they themselves so generally ignorant of the issues that they really believe they are passing along something of value that deserves serious consideration?

No, I think this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in a newspaper. And it's not by some nobody, it's from "the world's most widely syndicated columnist." That should give us pause.

The Lord of the Rings is the #1 selling DVD for two weeks straight. Does that mean Middle Earth and all its inhabitants are not just the imaginative thoughts of one JRR Tolkien, but they are in fact a very real and feasible presence? |

Seriously, anyone have this reference? It's over 20 years out of date but even in 1979, it probably wouldn't be accurate. |
