Perhaps the women-folk view male musicians as being able to display their deeper emotions better than the rest of us shlubs. With emotions can come emotional attachment. With attachment, it means that these fellas are more likely to stick around when the lass gets preggers.
I think there's something to musicians showing a more emotional, perhaps sensitive side that can be attractive to women on one level. But when we really think about it or explore it further it doesn't necessarily mean that they are any better with emotions/attachment etc. If anything, their track record may be worse!

I don't know exactly why I have always found musicians to be so sexy, but I just do. I dated my fair share of band members and my husband use to play the bass.

It's actually an interesting phenomena! A man, who isn't otherwise attractive, can become very attractive if he sings or plays an instrument well. My girlfriends and I tested this theory - without alcohol to cloud things! We were on vacation once and we went to this club that alternated between dance sets and hard rock. It was actually fun. The band that played was some Led Zeplin tribute band. They were actually quite good. Now, the lead singer came out and I turned to my friend Ginger and said, "Now there is NO way he could sing well enough for me to find HIM attractive!" She agreed, but sure enough we both started to find him very attractive the more he sang. He had an awesome voice and made love to the damned microphone as he sang. It was very hot! Music can be erotic and I think that is the key.

A man with a musical talent is simply very sexy, almost in a primordial kind of way. Look at guys like Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler. They are both ugly to look at until they sing. I am quite sure both of them get laid on a regular basis by very beautiful women. So any of you guys having dating problems ... learn to play an instrument or sing. If there is anything close to magic it has to be music.

What I had heard is that having the mental resources free to acquire musical ability is some kind of signal that the male has the ability to compete and still have resources left over.
Resources left over?!

I speak with experience...the only difference between a pizza and a Bass player is a pizza can feed a family of four.

Having that been said, I'm gonna go get me a guitar or bass, haven't decided which yet.

I remember when I first discovered my instrument... the hours locked away in my bedroom, practising; poring over the much-thumbed pages of magazines, looking for tips or indulging my fantasies; the obsession with equipment (though I've since come to understand that the size of one's rig is not important; it's all in the hands, and how you use what you've got); and of course, the nerve-destroying experience of doing it "for real" for the first time. I had such bad stage-fright, I was sure I would get the tempo wrong, but in the end I managed okay, and even had a pretty good solo.

Sorry, were we talking about sex or music?

I think I'm attracted to men who play instruments just because I'm in band, myself. It helps to have something in common with someone I'm attracted to.
My wife and I are both somewhat musical. I've been playing sax since I was 8, she sings, and plays a couple of instruments.
We have even recorded a CD of Xmas music (I insisted on adding a seasonal, secular song ) for our families.

I do find that when I get out my sax, it usually winds up with good.......sex.

I find it sexy when someone is doing something they are both good at and enjoy...whether that's music, art, sports. I love watching hubby play his drums and I am equally turned on watching him play baseball.

Now some instruments are not sexy...though I am not naming any at the risk of offending.

Damn, LadyShea, you beat me to it.

I think what's sexy is seeing people doing something they're really passionate about. They're uninhibited, or at least less so than normal, and they're just... in their element. Dunno if this is making sense.

Musicians (and actors and athletes) have the advantage that their chosen field exposes them to zillions of people when they're in "the zone." Writers are probably just as sexy when they let go, but I wouldn't actually know as for obvious reasons I've never witnessed it!

I think a great example is how during the World Cup, most of the girls I talked to thought the German goalie, Oliver Kahn, was disturbingly sexy. Not cute like the Spanish goalie, or attractive like Beckham, but... The consensus at the beginning of the cup was something like, "Holy shit, that guy looks like he could rip people apart with his bare hands." Near the end of the cup, the consensus seemed to be, "You know, he's kind of weird looking, and kind of insane, but damn, he looks like he'd be a demon in the sack."

Any girl with good skin-flute skills is a winner in my book.
