Everyone Read This.
According to the Uncertainty Theory of Quantum Physics one can not know both the exact position and velocity of a given particle. This is because the measurement methods would distourb this particle. So, due to this Theory, a god could not be all knowing. Correct?

Is the supernatural constrained by the natural?

Someone just started a thread on pretty much the exact same subject a few days ago:
God and Uncertainty Anyway, I don't think it's a good argument. If particles have definite positions and momenta at all times and the uncertainty principle just contrains our ability to measure them, there's no reason why God would have to be constrained in the same way since he'd be outside the universe (imagine a computer-simulated universe where the internal rules of the simulation limit what an observer within it can learn about his world, but the people who wrote the code have full access to every detail of what the computer is doing). On the other hand, if particles don't have well-defined simultaneous positions and momenta, then it's not a limit on God's all-knowingness that he can't answer this question, any more than the fact that he can't answer the question "what color is the number 5?" |

Yes, can God make a round square ? The questions ask as much about the definitions of "omniscience" and "omnipotence" than they do about any of "God's" qualities.
BTW Andrew, please don't title your topics "Everyone read this". Maybe you can find a more appropriate or specific title ? I can asure you that your OP has been discussed just as many times previously as most other topics posted. |

Classic vB mistake
I think Andrew just made the classic mistake of trying to reply to a topic and hitting 'New Topic" instead of 'Add reply'. It's especially prevalent on vB boards where replies can have titles so you won't be as inclined to notice that you pressed the wrong button until it's too late. Solution? Merge Threads, deleting posts like mine that talk about the improper placement of the post.

Andrew, did you mean to reply to the other God & uncertainty principle thread or did you actually mean to start a new thread?

The only reason I opened this thread was because it was titled "Everyone Read This" just like I always open threads titled "Someone Please Help Me" or "Worried".
