As a formerly abused child, I must agree with pug846s words for you.

You're taking this statement out of context as a personal insult to survivors of childhood abuse. I meant no such thing. Of course one can rise above abuse, and if you have you deserve nothing but admiration. But we know that the scars from child abuse effect profound and devastating losses on any human's psyche. In general, children from abused homes are held back on nearly every level when compared to their peers. This is a cold, hard fact (which I'll get you references for if you insist). Please do not personalize the statement.

I would respond that I think abortion is something that I would not choose because I think that those implanted embryos are life--my life pouring into a new life. I don't know if I could terminate that under any circumstances, including rape. I hope I will never have to ponder this.

However, I don't have the right, ability, or inclination to make decisions for other adults about such a personal matter. And no one has the right to make decisons about my reproductive health but me. I am decidedly pro-choice.

By the same token, how many Jeffrey Dahmers, David Koreshes, and John Wayne Gaceys would we be short of? Probably a good few more than we would be of famous, influential people. C'mon, you gotta look at both sides of your argument.

Furthermore, a fetus is not, as you indicated on the first page, a temporary problem. Raising a child is a lifelong responsibility that some would frankly be better off not undertaking.

And I've never heard of a woman who addressed the issue of abortion with a "gosh, a kid would be such a BOTHER" attitude - pregnancy tends to make those who aren't prepared for it somewhat hysterical, if you can imagine.
