I don't think I really understood "Beyond", or really the ending of "A Decetive's Story", but I absolutely loved the Renaissance ones; I felt they really added to the Matrix movies

I liked the ren' clip as we really got to see what they talked about in the first movie (when Morpheus explains what happened to Neo) That and the robot squishing that persons face was a cool scene!

Can someone clarify for me what happened in Kid's Story? What did Trinity mean by "Self-substantiation"? Also, I'm assuming that that's supposed to be the same kid from Matrix Reloaded that wants to serve with Morpheus' crew?

And what the heck happened in Matriculation? That one went over my head (it was pretty though). Now that I think about it, a few of them went over my head. The one with the racer, did he run so fast that he saw the Matrix for what it really was?

His real body didn't die, even though it should have.

Yep. The dialogue is a dead giveaway.

They turned the robot good. That's about it, really.

Not exactly. He ran so fast his real body woke up.

I voted for Beyond simply for its original and light-hearted approach to the Matrix world.

I saw it in a slightly different light. Somehow he intuited the existence of the matrix and, as a result, was able to bend its rules, as Neo does when he flies or stops bullets. It was his recognition of an artifical reality, or dream state, that caused him to both wake up and break the world record, despite stumbling from a blown knee. His speed, and subsequent awakening, was the effect of seeing the matrix for what it was, not the cause.

Well I'd have to watch it again, but you may be right.

The first time I watched it, though, I attributed his breakout from the Matrix as a result of a massive surge of neurochemicals from the intensity of the run which ultimately woke him up.

I see it analogous to waking up from a scary dream when it gets too intense.

That's an interesting take on it. More food for thought. Like I said earlier, this show has haunted my thoughts since I first watched it. It's questions like this that are responsible.

Default 2ndRenI

I voted for the first part of the second renaissance.

I must admit I was kind of disappointed. Maybe I had my expec tations too high, but I was hoping for more than nine ten-minute cartoons (albeit well made).

I didn't get the ending of Matriculation. Did the robot put the women back into the Matrix to help her cope with the loss of the rest of the crew?

Kid's Story was pretty good, really pulled in elements from the movie.

I liked them all, but somehow I was expecting more.

What I really didn't like is the same six minutes of credits after each episode. It was easy to deal with but still annoyed me.
