Sociological information about the Creationism, evolution controversy.
Does any exist?
Basically, I would like some stuff regarding the spread of belief in evolution in the last 150 years, data on the socio-economic background of those who subscribe to YEC and those who believe in evolution, how this compares to other countries, etc. I’ve tried finding this data on my own, but I am a terrible researcher. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

United States Populace:
53% Evolutionist 47% Creationist United States Populace, only those holding degrees in Biology (any): 95% Evolutionist 5% Creationist I think those come from the last survey from the NAS, but I'm not certain. |

in the US, 47% believe in creationism?
Christ. over here, it seems to be a lower percent of normal people believe in creationism than those that have degrees in biology in the US. (I've never met an Australian creationist) |

wait, no, I've met One (south Australia, met on the internet)
Although, even before I found out she was a creationist, I had a feeling my neighbour's golden labrador had more intelligence than her. (and this is a pretty retarded golden labrador) |

Of course, here in Canada, we've spawned the occasional prominent creationist too, like Hugh Ross, Margaret Helder, and Ian Taylor. When I visited New Zealand for a year, I remember this street preacher in the square in Christchurch spouting Kent Hovind's stuff. I would have liked to have challenged him, but I didn't have time. And when I was in southern Australia, somewhere near Adelaide, some guy tried to board the tour bus I was on and preach the gospel to us (not sure if he was a creationist though).
