Creation book hoax
I have been seriously thinking about writing a creationist book.
Why? I would dearly love to get famous and enjoy large sales, diverting money from the creationist economy into the atheist pocket. And then I would like to destroy it all by admitting it was a hoax, and present a written debunking of my own book. Can you imagine the scandal?! Seriously though, has this sort of thing been done before? How easy is it to get a creationist book published? How much damage do you think it would do? Sounds like a good idea.
I don’t know how difficult it would be to get it published, but to become an acclaimed “expert” in Creationism seems pretty easy to me. You just have to fork out a few thousand dollars and a few weeks work for your doctorate. If money is a problem: simple….start your own one-man-university and award yourself the degrees. The worst thing would be having to mingle with all the dumb fundies to promote it! |

Ooh! Ooh! Over here! I've got a PhD (so it's in chemistry - "Organic Chemistry" sounds like it's about life) and I'd be happy to prostitute myself for a year or two for a cause like that! We could split up the writing, then split up the profits and have a keg party!

Liquid,
Go for it! However, if it did work out I doubt seriously that you would ever want to admit it was a hoax: 1- Think about all that MONEY! 2- It would just prove (to THEM) that a demon took possession of your soul. 3- Someone would probably stone ya to death. |

You may want to deposit a letter with your sollicitor that it is a hoax, just in case you get run over by a bus before you had the chance to admit to the hoax....

But thinking about it, I feel it needs to contain some new kind of distortion of the truth, otherwise it'll just be rehashing all the others. Any ideas at coming up with a new creationist super-theory?
(And wait a couple of months and it'll probably get quoted at you from a lurking creationist!) |

Great idea, Liquid! Let me know if you need any help. I'd love to contribute spurious, (errr, I mean scientific) evidence to assist the endeavor.
Will you plan it as a YEC, OEC, or ID? Maybe there's some way you could totally conflate the three? Call it the "neo-Creationist Synthesis" or something... |
