Even miniature sunflowers have large leaves. I'd say you don't want all three of those plants in a pot that small. I'm not sure you should have one plant in a pot that small.
Sunflowers are pretty hardy and will probably transplant easily. You don't have to be in a big hurry to transplant, wait til the plants are 4-6 inches high. Also, if you are a plant newbie, don't make the mistake of transplanting a small plant to a large pot. All of its strength will go into root production and you may not get any bloom at all. It may sound like a pain to keep re-pot, but the little guys will thank you. And, its OK for plants to get just a little root-bound. Not so that they push the soil out of the pot, but ..... Sunflowers and pansies have different requirements for growth. Sunflowers like nice bright, warm places and pansies like life a bit cooler. (they can take the sun, but only if they must.) Sunflowers like it on the dry side while pansies don't mind the damp. This may be more info than you wanted, but I love my plants and want them all to be happy. |

I pulled the other two seedlings a couple of hours ago, and I transplanted the one I'm going to keep to the center of the pot.
Little fella seems to be doing fine. If it doesn't, I still have more seeds where that came from. ![]() |
