I've seen this rebuttal to common skeptical retorts on the inerrancy of the Babble.

Bats are 'birds'? The Hebrew word translated 'bird' is `�wph, and simply means 'winged/flying creature' — it is derived from `�wph meaning 'to fly'.

Fowls have four feet? 'Fowl' is again `�wph, and is translated 'winged insects' in the NIV and NASB. Plimer should have checked more modern translations.

Camels do not have cloven hooves? The Bible is right. Camels have an elastic pad at the bottom of their hoof, which helps prevent it from sinking into the sand. This pad means the hoof is not fully divided.

Some four-legged animals fly? The Hebrew idiom 'upon all fours' simply means 'on feet'.

So, what I'd like to ask is this... Are they correct or just another fine example of mistaken apologetics? Also, are there any other, indisputable errors in the Babble that can't be explained away as idiomatic or translation errors?

/me thinks the standard apologetic response to that would be one of either 'it had air bubbles in it', 'it was a miracle' or 'you took that out of context'

IMO, the term Babble is enrirely descriptive of threads such as this.

It is in the Old Testament. I have read it, but can not place it. It is a trivia (for me) now, but I will find it. It has to be in either Kings or Samuel.

2 Kings 6:5-7

5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axhead fell into the water. "Oh, my lord," he cried out, "it was borrowed!"
6 The man of God asked, "Where did it fall?" When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float.
7 "Lift it out," he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it.
