Post Are the deaf hellbound?

Quote:
Romans 10:
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...
Apparently so! If we interpret the bible literally! i wonder how a deaf person might aviod damnation!

Weatherman: It’s raining cats and dogs at the moment in Smallville.

Any Reasonable Person: Did you hear what the weatherman said? It’s really raining hard over in Smallville.

Dogmatic Atheist Applying the Same Hermeneutic He Does to the Bible: Ha, Ha! That stupid weatherman thinks cats and dogs are falling out of the sky!

God Bless,
Kenny

I prefer to attack the god concept directly. There's no sense converting fundmentalists to liberal christians.

Kind Bud,

I prefer to attack the god concept directly. There's no sense converting fundmentalists to liberal christians.

I don't know. Liberal Xians, in my experience, tend to be much easier to get along with and less likely to attempt to legislate their faith. I'd view a fundamentalist's conversion to a more liberal strain of Xianity as a victory for the good guys.

Are the handicapped hellbound? Maybe not, but they are supposed to be kept out of churches as far as the Bible is concerned.

Quote:
Leviticus 21:16-23 - And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
Oh... am I taking the Bible too literally?

No...you are not taking it too literally, but that is referring to the Old Testament laws regarding temple worship. doesn't make God any less mean....but it is not referring to churches.

Yes, Kenny, we're all aware that whenever a bible passage has any sort of negative tone to it, then it is not to be taken literally.
