This really isn't a deep field of study or anything for me, so I was wondering if any of you might know some good Historical/Archaeological/Bible-Scholarly sources (preferably on the web) that support these assertions in particular:
  • The Pentateuch mention towns and coinage that did not exist until long after Moses' death, so he could not have written them.
  • The Book of Joshua refers to events long after his death.
  • The Book of Judges was written long after the judges ceased to exist.
  • The Captivity happened 500 years after David's death, so the Psalms that mention it could not have been written by him.
  • Judaic inspiration was not agreed upon until the 2nd century CE.

I have some articles at my website that may be helpful in addressing some of your queries.

As regards certain towns not being in existence in Moses' days (the 15th century BCE) cf. the following url and the articles on it.

As regards the Book of Joshua, there are towns he allegedly distributed to Israel after the Conquest, that did not come into being until the 8th century BCE. Cf. the following url

As regards the book of Judges, mention is made in that book of Jericho being in existence, but archaeological evidence suggests this is not true. cf. the following url

As regards the Psalms, I have no articles on the subject, but my research suggests that while some Psalms "might" be a searly as David's days, not all o them are. Some are obviously written in the Exile, after 587 BCE. The Oxford Annotated Bible (RSV) is an excellent source of information on the dating of the various Psalms.

All the best, Walter
