Default A Lover of Life Fears / Hates the Idea of Dying

Why should a person who loves life not mind the idea of dying? Why would a person who loves life not mind the idea of dying? And if a person does mind the idea of dying, why aren’t they -- like most -- trying to find a way to avoid it? Because it is impossible? Because death is inevitable?

Without complete knowledge of our universe, no one is in the position to deem what is impossible, nor are they in the position to deem what is of a supernatural nature. So, if you believe that some things are impossible, or believe that a god is the governor of your “now” and your “future”, you are -- in fact -- without reason or evidence for those beliefs. You are, essentially hanging by the thin threads of blind -- unfounded -- faith.

What’s the point in accepting or ignoring death? You work hard for an entire lifetime to build yourself and your environment to only die later and loose everything, including your conscious mind. And when you die, it is not a temporary thing. It is a permanent thing. It is forever! It is neither peaceful nor liberating. Death is nothing; it is the end of your being.
:boohoo:

Should we try to find a way to avoid death, and take control over our evolution?

As a person who doesn't have any concept of an afterlife, I've often thought this. Even as miserable as existence can be at times, it certainly beats the alternative.

It is fully my intention, as crazy as it sounds, to live and be young for ever. And I mean it...Start the stem cell's going, man!

There is to be nothing pleasant about death. Only the end of conscience--and to me, the conscience is the only holy thing.

It doesn’t sound crazy at all. It sounds like Transhumanism to me. Are you a Transhumanist?

Are you saying it is impossible to know these things?

I accept death because there is currently nothing to be done about it and when I die I won't know/care anymore. I am here for a short time and plan to do as much as I can...length of life is meaningless if you aren't experiencing/doing/seeing

No. If you're a super genius who knows everything about everything its not impossible.

Are you 100% sure about that? Have you done any extensive research into the subject of life extension and so on - so forth. And if there was a way to extend your lifespan, would you consider it?

Whats so great about not knowing and not caring?

Whats the point?

Death has never seemed logical to me. Yeah its natural, and so are diseases and spoiling food. Why do we even make such great effort to find cures for diseases, and ways to prevent food spoilage, and not try harder to find cure for death?

Why should I want to give up a meaningful life for death (the meaningless experience)?

No, because someone who is not a super-genius can always become a super-genuis.
