Pre-Marital Sex and Cohabitation
Most religious people claim that avoiding sexual intercourse with your partner until marriage will increase your chances of remaining married to him or her. They will also tell you that living with your partner before marriage (cohabitation) decreases the chances that you will remain married. Is there any non-religious research or evidence to support either of these claims?

IIRC the area of the US with the highest divorce rate is the "bible belt" , and I think it was on IIDB that I saw the info.

If you wait until you are married, you will have no idea if your mate is a lame fuck. I've fucked women who were quite enthusiastic, while others had me feeling like a necropheliac.
Some view sex as a dirty nasty act that should be kept to a minimum. If you co-habitate with some one, chances are you are going to fuck, so that's a bad thing. No fucking, people. |

Most of the "evidence" against shacking up is a statistical artifact. All "common-law" couples are lumped into one census category regardless of whether they have children, a house and insurance policies together or if it's just some goof sponging off his girlfriend for a few months until she changes the locks.
And when common-law couples do marry, it's often because the relationship is starting to get rocky, and instead of sorting things out they try to prevent the breakup by tying themselves tighter legally. It doesn't work. As for my sweetiedarling and myself, we've outlasted a large percentage of marriages so far. |

Exactly!
This reminds me of a study where it concluded that old people who went to church lived longer. Yeeeeessss . . . if you compare the elderly who can get out of bed, leave the nursing home, and make it to church to those who cannot. . . . --J.D. |
