Question The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I hope I am not rehashing old material. I am not well read in this area, but I have finished 'The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind' by Julian Jaynes and I found it compelling. I admit parts of it went over my head, and I was curious what others thought of it, and if it was ever very influential. The reason I post about it in this particular forum is because I found the explanations for religion in humans presented by Jaynes as the core of the book. I've read the reviews for the book on Amazon etc, so I was hoping to get more/better feedback on how the book has stood up since it was published, what you found to be the best and worst aspects of the book, etc. Thanks for your feedback.
