Post Combo religions

So, there are a number of religions that can be seen as combinations of other religions, or at least were definitely influenced by two pre-existing religions.

Santeria is probably the best example I can think of, which is Yoruba mixed with Catholicism. Sihkism is often viewed as being influenced by both Hindu and Muslim beliefs. (But they added a lot of their own stuff while they were at it.) Many people see Roman pantheon influence in Catholicism. I have personally met some folks who believe something akin to a combo of Buddhism and Satanism. (They learn to free themselves from the influence of Karma, mostly by defying it.)

Now, I realize that even with these cases, it's usually more complicated than just taking two religions and mixing them together, but I'm curious. What other combo religions are there? What religions haven't been joined, yet?

Christianity + Atheism = Deism
Christianity + Militant Islam = Tolerant Islam

Really? What about Xianity will make a religion tolerant? Don't forget that Xianity was responsible for inspiring the Holocaust, 'witch'-hunts and the Inquisition.

The question was about what a mixture of religions might produce. True Christianity cannot be mixed, but its influence tends to blunt the extremism of heathen religions. Hence muslims (specifically the Ottoman empire) spent over ~900 years trying to destroy Christianity, and now muslim Turkey, its successor, is petitioning to join the Catholic based European Community!

The Holocaust was the work of a few non-Christian deranged individuals and it is wrong to make capital out of it.

The witch-hunts were likewise the work of a small minority of deranged inidviduals, some of whom were driven by love of money.

The inquisition was inspired by pagan Rome - the desire for papal (i.e. Roman) aggrandizement.

The Deism one sounds legit. Deism arose from Christian populations who became well educated.

The connection between Tolerant Islam and Christianity is less obvious, though. Rather than labels like "Tolerant" and "Militant" maybe we should stick with the more theology-based "Shiite", "Suni" and "Sufi." If you want to discuss the time and place each of these sects originated, and how much Christian influence they may have received, that would be much more helpful.

Judaism would be a mix of original Hebrew religion with Zoroastrain.

Mahayana Buddhism would be Theraveda Buddhism plus local polytheism.

Upanishad would be Hindu Atheists.

Roman Paganism would be Greek Paganism plus Paganism of other areas (Egyptian, Lybian, Thracian, Celtic, Persian) .

Taiwanese folk religion is the blend of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and animistic beliefs.

Cuban Catholicism is Roman Catholicism plus goddess beliefs. Similar mix is found in Polynesian and Native American Chrisitianity.

Messianic Judaism is probably very obvious...

Typical apologist tripe. Hitler said that he would be a Catholic until he died (in Mein Kamph).

Here's a good article.

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olym.../attrelig.html

He was born and brought up a Roman Catholic. But he lost faith early and he attends no religious services of any kind.....Catholicism he considered a particularly dangerous competitive force, because it demands two allegiances of a man.."

Seems he rejected Catholicism on political grounds (same reason as Henry VIII), but the vacuum got filled not by protestant Christianity but paganism.
