ahhh St. Thomas Aquinas. I liked it...
especially the Angels from the prima pars
I am usually fond of any mention of angels because I believe in them

I think those purgatory certificates sound kind of strange but I'd read the books...

Whatever helps you feel better man. I'm sure your grandmother was a lovely person.

No offense ment, but it seems your relatives probably did think she was 'good enough for heaven', and subsequently took care of what in their frame of mind were the required technicalities; as twisted as that may sound.

I think it's a sad thing how certain beliefs can have so negative an impact on people... don't let it indirectly consume you with negative emotions too much okay? Life's too short.

As I said, to deny the existence of Purgatory is to deny the perfection of God or the heinousness of sin.

As I said, Gemma Therese is an anagram for "A, he teems germ."

Wait, I never said that. Nevermind.

It's just too bad your family couldn't have afforded a plenary indulgence so your grandmother could have gotten out of purgatory and gone straight to heaven.

On Purgatory

Quote:
The idea of Purgatory came from Persia, and Pope Gregory in 604 AD was the first Christian with brains enough to sense its commercial value. The Council of Trent (1545-1563) declared the Purgatory swindle to be a matter of Catholic faith. What happened to the millions of good Catholics who died without the benefit of a 'cooling off' sojourn in Purgatory some priest might explain.

"Protestants consider Purgatory a first. class racket. This view is a narrow sectarian one and is not supported by the evidence. Although Jesus and Paul knew nothing of this place, it is a reliably documented Christian swindle and not a racket."

Regardless of what protestants think, the Gospels take place in Purgatory. The sad part is that they do not recognize this which is proof that not one protestant has ever enjoyed the taste of heaven on earth (or he would have sure told others about it, LOL).

Purgatory is when we are "running the race" as Paul called it, and this is between rebirth and assention. So while in purgatory we are lukewarm -- which now makes it easy to see how cold is OK while lukewarm is not OK.
