creationist concession?
When I saw that the cover story was "did God create the world?" I picked up the Jan 02 copy of a JW magazine called "Signs of the Times". Most of it was the usual creationist claptrap that I won't bother to get into but the writer did say something that caught my eye.
"However, currently available data does not demonstrate that the entire world was inundated with water in the recent past." "Honesty demands... that we face squarely the problems with our own model and refuse to accept simplistic answers." pg 10 "Signs of the Times" 1/02 I find it slightly encouraging that a prominent creationist isn't willing to settle for every bit of creationist pseudo science and godidit explanations. I wish more creationist could be so honest. It's not that some people believe in creationism that bothers me so much but rather it is all of the intellectual dishonesty they engage in in order to justify their beliefs. They way they cling to their shrinking sun and dinosaur/man tracks arguments is both pathetic and infuriating. I find it ironic that members of a religion that has a commandment against lying end up doing just that in the name of their religion. [ January 14, 2002: Message edited by: sensate ]</p> |

Whoever wrote that probably doesn't work for that publication anymore.
