Hi Ken,

You say you were an MK and were in Burkina Faso? I was in Niger round that time. Your story is wonderful! May I ask where your parents worked as missionaries?

Believe it or not, we were actually missionaries in Niger, but I was attending a one-month linguistic workshop in neighboring Burkina Faso at the time my crisis began. Our assignment was in far eastern Niger, in the town of N'Guigmi, on the edge of the Sahara. We had three kids in cloth diapers there at the same!

By the way, Joel, you wouldn't happen to be Joel Mayer, former Peace Corps volunteer to Niger, editor of Kakaki, the news and information service about Niger?

If any one is interested in perusing a lengthy e-mail dialogue I've been engaging in with a biblical scholar/author/pastor, you can visit http://www.geocities.com/kenandcharlene/docs/ and click on OrtDan.htm.

Wow Ken this is quite a nice surprise!

No, I'm not Joel Mayer, though I have heard of him. In your link you mentioned the SIL. That wouldn't be the Summer Institute for Linguistics would it? The only people I know from SIL were the Jarretts (English family, were in Maine-Saroa sp?), way back when I was a kid (1979-89). You must have heard of SIM and Galmi hospital. That's where my dad worked. When were you in Niger? I've never been out as far as Nguigmi (that's thousands of miles out!)... I got as far as Goure in 1997.

Perhaps "Are there any former theists?" would have a better question. You can be a theist and a non-Creationist.

This IS the evolution/creation forum. What makes you think that question would even be relevant here?

Just trying to point out that evolutionist does not mean atheist.

I guess SLD did address that in his original post. My mistake.
