Me too. In Alaska. But the bears that Jesus sent to eat those 42 children must have been a hell of a lot bigger. Not to mention hungrier.

He let the apostles have two swords, as it turned out. No evidence they did anything with them except slice bacon though.
For more info, read the atheist H.G. Wells' commentary (in his Short History of the World) on the kind of sword Jesus brought. Hey Opera Nut, ever confront Muslims about the activities of Muhammed and associates? I'm thinking you might have a case. Rad |

It's fortunate Jesus had hair, I guess.
OK let's get back to the contradictions. I only have a half hour to read and refute the rest of them. Rad |

Nope I don't mess with Muslims.
I've had enough fun arguing with fundies. After explaining my beliefs, I've been told that I am "an evil, controlling, horrible woman", that I "don't understand the Bible very well", that I will counter their arguments for jesus with "more bullshit", and that furthermore, that I "Don't know what I believe" and am "confused". Not to mention that I and this man's father "now cease to exist in his eyes". In other words, they didn't get it. No comprende ingles. :banghead: |

The most telling and damning contradiction that I see in the NT is the passage where Jesus promises his followers that some of them will still be alive to see him come back and reclaim the world. I don't have the passage, but I'm sure someone else does. I read it again just this weekend while perusing through George H Smith's "Atheism: The Case Against God". I've read it before but I was bored.
At any rate, that one passage (and several others like it) should be enough to convince anyone of Xtianity's falsehood. There's really no amount of reinterpretation or extrapolation that can twist it's meaning from the written context. It's very clear. It was something that was prophesized by the Man Hisself and within a pretty measurable time frame and it never happened. Two thousand years later and the faithful still wait... There are many philosophical contradictions to build a case with, but this predicition of Jebus' return by Himself that doesn't happen is the trough that holds all the pigslop for me. |
