I wish to advance the same arguments OM launches against pot, against body piercings. How can we allow people to mutilate themselves? This the 20th century. Barbaric rituals of cutting and mutilation had some meaning when we were hunter-gatherers, and didn't know any better. But the Bronze Age is over: there oughta be a law.

Piercing and tattoo parlors spread disease. Yeah, a few famous parlors in large cities have made a show in recent years of cleaning up their act. But most of the rest operate in squalid anonymity, are unsanitary, and getting a piercing or a tattoo in these places is asking for a Hepatitis infection, or even worse, AIDS.

OM, that you actually went ahead and mutilated your lip is cause for people here to be concerned for your well-being. Mentally sound people do not mutilate themselves for the fun of it, or to make a fashion statement. You don't realize it yet, but you're a sick young man, and you need help before you fall down that slipperly slope and get a plug in your earlobe, brain floss, or even worse - and I shudder to mention it - a Prince Albert. Please, please, seek help before you fall into hopelessness and poke a hole in your weiner. It's inevitable if you don't get help soon.

All piercings should be legal. Especially facial piercings. Those let everyone know just how starved for attention a person is. I think a movement should be started that will give all face piercers the attention they deserve.
When spotted, people should rush to the face piercers and loudly praise their impaled visages. "WOW, THAT IS SO COOL! HEY EVERYBODY, COME OVER HERE AND LOOK AT THIS GUY!" Crowds would gather and the pathetic need for attention would be satisfied. It would just be a case of people helping people.

People who pierce their genitals? At least these types, on a subconcious level at least, are in some way acknowledging that by running their reproductive parts through with metal that they shouldn't be reproducing. The next generation will take the next step and just lop their naughty bits off and seal the deal once and for all.

But taking a bong hit? Now that's seriously wrong...

I believe anyone, at any age, caught with any piercings on them or in their system get an automatic 15 years in prison, no parole, plus extra time depending on the amount or type of piercing. Also, allow PEA agents or regular police to conduct random searches in federal or government buildings wherever or on whomever is so desired. Extra searches at schools, plainclothes PEA in the smoking pits at highschools. Death sentence for any caught piercers prosecuted beyond resonable doubt, too. Extensive media coverage of the trial plus the execution, for every other one caught, plus coverage of mass piercing busts that see several people off to prison for a couple decades.

I had a friend who went to the fair to get his septum(skin between your nostrils) pierced and they couldn't pierce him after three tries. The guy gave him TWICE his money back and said if he ever decides to get anything else done, piercings or tatoos, it'd be on the house. The place is still in business and this was 6 years ago. Pass the six-footer.

Tell me that you are kidding. I will concede that a lot of alterna-teens get tattoos and piercings just so that they can "be cool", but for the majority of people body modifications are a way to feel complete. A genital piercing isnt done because you hate yourself. It is usualy done to increase the sensitivity in the area , which increases the pleasurable feelings from the areas. It is done with the aim of makeing sex better, not worse.

You attack people with facial piecings because they have a " pathetic need for attention ". The same can be said for people who wear to much make up, wear flashy clothes or use any type or ornamentation at all. After all , they dont need makeup to survive, just to get attention.

If you are intrested in learning a little more about the subject there are quite a few books out there. My 2 favorite books on the subject are Body Probe by David Wood TG and Modcon by Shannon Larratt . Both go into great detail abut the history and lifestyle associated with piercings,tattoos,and other procedures. There is also a website dedicated to mod culture here--> http://www.bmezine.com/ . It has personal accounts, pictures, a glossary of related terms, and a list of risks associated with each procedure.

As for bong hits being less dangerous, well there arent any laws against driving while pierced like there are for drivivng while intoxicated. Body piercing will never give you lung cancer like smokeing anything will. You cant be arrested for possessing a body piercing or body piercing paraphenalia. You dont stink like shit after getting pieced like you do after takeing bong hits. You cant fail a urine test because of a body piercing. Body piercing doesnt kill your short term memeory. You cant get addicted to a body piercing. A body piecing wont affect how your brain functions, unlike the main ingredient in pot,Tetrahydrocannabinol will. If you can someohow think that getting your nose pierced is more harmful than getting high you have some serious issues.

The're kidding about this stuff. The point of this thread was to draw parallels between the arguments OM was making about drugs to arguments that could be made about peircings.
